The high value hedge option

Today we’re going to look at generating a larger potential return on the US Open, whilst minimizing associated risk. The purpose of this bet is to attempt to generate a big return off an upset, and keep the stake intact if the favourite goes on to win the match.
We’ll be targeting the match between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic for today’s bet, and will once again be looking to use the set betting markets.
After watching Novak Djokovic’s form peak at the end of 2008, when he won the Masters Cup, we believe that there is an outside chance that the Serb could beat Federer to reach the US Open final.
The bet we’re looking at is on Novak Djokovic winning today’s match. Bets on a 3-2 and 3-1 score for Djokovic both pay out at 9/1. A Djokovic straight sets win seems extremely unlikely.
The odds on offer here are high enough for punters to back both outcomes and still generate a very decent return, but 3-2 to Djokovic looks the more likely outcome of the two. We will then look to hedge this bet with a bet of equal value on Federer winning 3-1 at 5/2.
If you think Djokovic will push Fed all the way, then the 6/1 price on a 3-2 win for Federer is the better bet for a hedge option, or can be added as a second hedge option if you don't mind a smaller return.
